Nine times out of ten this is an open thermocouple. Disconnect the thermocouple and “ohm it out” -- if it is open it is bad.  If it is not open, then replace the controller by taking it directly out of the front (don’t try to take it out though the back of the unit).    If you end up needing a new controller for the Delatech 858 scrubber, please contact Critical Systems.        ...

The easiest thing to do is to swap weld heads with someone when they’re not looking, but that really doesn’t solve the problem. Actually, you can usually figure this out pretty quickly. There are a handful of things to check (from most to least likely reasons): Mismatched or worn out collets Poor quality collets to begin with. Problem with the weld head itself Ovality of the tube Tube ends aren’t being prepped properly. Since you’re getting a more gradual increase in the number of tubes/fittings not lining up, it’s probably not mismatched collets. Usually, a mismatch will either always cause the problem, or never cause a...

This is a common question for a people designing a gas delivery system, especially at universities and/or research facilities requiring fewer and low flow gases. Although a common question, it doesn’t necessarily have a simple answer. As with most complex issues, the answer depends on a number of factors, including code, purity and moisture requirements, as well as output needs and cost considerations. CSI only considers gas systems that have been professionally decommissioned from major fabrication facilities across the country. Prior to purchase, we thoroughly inspect each cabinet, checking specifically for any signs of contamination. Each cabinet goes through a compete evaluation of the internals of the tubing to ensure that there is no contamination. Additionally, all cabinets are put through extensive cycle purging as part of the reconditioning process. For an additional measure of assurance, CSI offers full analytical testing (particle, moisture, and oxygen) upon request. NOTE: Since CSI first began selling reconditioned cabinets/systems over 10 years ago (1000+ systems), we have never had a...

In high purity stainless welding, creating a consistent Argon shield around the weld is essential. Creating that shield means that you must maintain a certain level of backpressure (which varies based on the fitting size). Obviously, creating backpressure means a constant flow of gas. At Critical Systems high purity welding is central to our business. We’re also constantly looking for ways to improve things. The Argon Purge Restrictor is one of many CSI Orbital Weld Innovations (link) that has helped us and many others in high purity fabrication shops. Argon Gas Savings The purge restrictor does just what it says: restricts the flow...

This issue is addressed during a scrubber install, and typically asked after there has been a problem (which is almost always due to lack of regular maintenance).   The steps are quick, simple and when performed every 6 months, will prolong the performance and life of the scrubber. When it comes to small diameter, high purity orbital welding, precise alignment and a tight hold during the orbital cycle are critical to a consistently good weld. Our Tube Clamp Replacement is a CSI Orbital Weld Innovation that enables this through 1000’s of welds. CSI’s Tube Clamp Replacement come in 4 sizes (1/8”, ¼”, 3/8”, and ½”), and was engineered as a drop-in replacement for the AMI 9-500 Weld Head Clamp Assembly. It is modular, and mechanically fastened together. This modular assembly means: The plates can be realigned on the center axis of the tube, ensuring precise alignment and a tight...

Orbital welding is a great option when: The tube (or pipe) can’t be rotated, or the portion where rotation occurs is not practical. Space restrictions limit the size of any device that can be used Strict requirements for quality, consistency, purity Advances in gas purification make it affordable and readily available, making orbital welding a practical alternative Click here for the article on this topic.  ...
