This August CSI was invited to and attended the annual UA Instructor Training Program in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This was our second year attending, and this year we had the opportunity to attend the vendor day event as well. We headed to Ann Arbor on Friday August 8th and Saturday the 9th we attended the vendor day expo. During the vendor event we showed copper samples, gave away promotional items, talked about orbital welding and our experience in the field. We had one of the most popular tables at the expo and were busy from 8 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon.

The main reason we were at ITP was to roll out and demonstrate copper orbital welding. We were booked for two demonstration sessions on Tuesday of the training week. Monday, we started testing our copper welding equipment and getting it dialed in. Meanwhile we had a stainless-steel orbital welding setup in the main training room cranking out welds. Tuesday, we got a curve ball and had to move the copper welding demonstration to the UAs medical gas training center.

Jorge and Derek moved all the equipment, got everything all hooked up and dialed in the equipment. By the 11 o’clock session they were making copper welds. About 30 people attended the 11 O’clock session and all came away amazed that we were producing high quality orbital copper welds. For the 1 O’clock session we had about 60 people crowded around the equipment asking questions, working through welding themselves. Both demonstrations went flawlessly, and Ted got a standing ovation at the end of the second session.
ITP continues to be a valuable experience for CSI to get our name out and support our brand. CSI would like to give special thanks to the entire UA and all they do to support the development of a highly trained professional workforce. This work they do is fundamental to the success of our country, its businesses and the people that can and do make a difference.
