One of the services our Orbital Welding division provides is equipment repair for various kinds of AMI and Tri-Tool equipment that includes but is not limited to: weld heads, facing tools and power supplies. Let’s look at what you can expect from a request for equipment repair-

The Initial Preview: When your equipment is assigned to one of our trained technicians, the first thing they will do is visually inspect and clean the equipment. Sanding away arc burns and removing stickers or tape to help preserve the look and functionality of the equipment.
A Closer Look: The technician will disassemble the equipment to examine the internals, checking for worn gearing, motor issues, or any other obvious damage that can be seen visually before testing.
Testing your equipment: After re-assembling your equipment, the technician will test all the different functions of the equipment. For weld heads this includes speed calibration, motor functionality, coolant flow, and finally a weld check. For power supplies this includes checking CMOS, motor functionality, software version, pendant functionality, and a final weld test to ensure all other systems are working.
Checklist Completion: At this point the technician will finish filling out an evaluation checklist which will list all the parts needing to be replaced or refurbished, as well as a quick write up that includes what they found during the cleaning and testing portion of the evaluation. After the checklist is completed, a quote will be generated to send to the customer.
(Optional) Power Supply Calibration: When you send a power supply to us and we see an out-of-date calibration or no calibration at all, we will recommend a calibration. What a calibration entails is a full amperage weld from 10A-150A and adjusting the output to match within 1% of the programmed current delivery.
Repair completion: After the quote has been approved, the technician will complete the repairs listed on the quote and perform final testing on the equipment to ensure the repair works and that no other repairs are required.
Bagging and Tagging: When final repairs and testing are completed, the technician will place an inspection tag on the equipment that includes the serial number, date, and their initials on the equipment. The equipment will then be given to shipping and receiving and be returned to the customer.
